Pinot Meunier is our go-to Thanksgiving wine, and thus we always release the Van der
Kamp Vineyard Pinot Meunier in October, so you can get it to your home, and on your table,
in time for turkey and all of the trimmings.
In 2010, the Van der Kamp Vineyard produced a bigger, heavier Pinot Meunier than in previous
vintages. The fruit came from a new section of the vineyard as the older vines were
finally reaching the end of their lives. We picked the fruit on October 1, 2010 at 24.1 brix.
Very little winemaking was required as we were able to let the juice do its thing. At the
conclusion of fermentation we pressed the wine to older French oak barrels, where it rested
until bottling at the very end of July
The 2010 Novy Van der Kamp Pinot Meunier is the biggest Pinot Meunier we have ever
produced. While it is a bit more Pinot Noir like, it also shows the telltale raspberry fruit
character that epitomizes Pinot Meunier. A bit more lively and precise on the palate than
Pinot Noir this wine pairs wonderfully with turkey or even ham, making a fantastic and fun
accompaniment to your holiday meals.
